About FishNet LK

What is FishNet LK?
FishNet LK is a mobile web service for fishermen in Sri Lanka. It brings marine weather and sea conditions, daily fish prices, harbour market statistics, a boat logbook, an expense tracker, the moon calendar and fisheries news into one place.
Do I need to install an app?
No. FishNet LK runs entirely in your browser — nothing to download or install. It works on mobile, tablet and desktop. You can add it to your home screen for quick access.
Which harbours are covered?
Galle, Negombo, Mirissa, Trincomalee, Beruwala, Jaffna, Colombo and Hambantota. Pick your home harbour from the header or from My Profile, and weather and market data follow it.
Is it available in Sinhala?
Fisheries news is shown in Sinhala by default and can be switched to English on the news page. The rest of the app is currently in English.

Subscription & billing

How much does it cost?
The subscription is Rs 49 + tax / 30 days, billed through Hutch carrier billing to the number you subscribe with.
Which networks can subscribe?
Hutch numbers only — 072 or 078. Numbers on other networks cannot be billed for this service and will be turned away on the sign-in screen.
How do I subscribe?
Enter your mobile number and tap Send verification code. We send a 4-digit code by SMS; enter it and your subscription is active. Nothing is charged until that code is verified.
When am I charged?
The first charge is taken when the subscription activates, and it renews automatically each period until you cancel. Your next charge date is shown in My Profile.
What happens if my balance is too low?
If a renewal cannot be collected, access may be suspended until the payment succeeds. Top up and it resumes — you do not need to subscribe again.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
No. Charges already collected are not refunded, because the service is delivered continuously for the period charged. Cancelling stops all future charges immediately.

Account & access

How do I sign in?
With your mobile number — there is no password. Enter the 9 digits without the leading zero, for example 7XXXXXXXX. Typing the 0 or the +94 is fine too; both are stripped automatically.
Why does it ask for a code every time I sign in?
Only when you sign in on a new device or after signing out. The code proves the number is yours, which is what stops someone else using it to reach your records. Your session then stays signed in on that device.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in with the same number on any device. Your logbook and expenses are stored against your account, not the handset.
I did not get the code.
Wait a few seconds — SMS can be slow — then use Resend. You can request up to 3 replacement codes. Check that the number is correct and that your phone has signal. Each code expires after 2 minutes.
Can I change the number on my account?
No. The subscription is billed to the number the account was opened with, so the two cannot be separated. To use a different number, cancel and subscribe again with that number — bearing in mind that cancelling deletes your records.

Your data

What do you store about me?
Your mobile number, your chosen harbour, and whatever you record yourself — logbook trips, expenses and any receipt photos you upload. Sign-in attempts and subscription events are logged for security and billing.
Is my data shared?
It is not sold and not shared for marketing. Your number is shared with Hutch because they operate the billing.
Can I export my records?
Yes. The logbook and expenses pages both have a CSV export that includes whatever filters you have applied. Do this before cancelling if you want to keep your data.

Cancelling

How do I cancel?
Go to My Profile → Cancel subscription and confirm. Billing stops immediately — there is no notice period.
What happens to my data when I cancel?
It is deleted permanently. Cancelling closes the account: every logbook trip, expense record and receipt photo is erased at the moment you confirm. Nothing is archived and nothing can be restored, by you or by support. Export to CSV first if you want to keep anything.
Can I subscribe again later?
Yes, with the same number — but you will start with an empty account. The old records are gone.
I cancelled but I was still charged.
A charge already in progress when you cancelled may still appear. If you see a charge dated after your cancellation, contact support with the date and we will check it with Hutch.

Troubleshooting

The weather or prices are not loading.
The app depends on outside data sources that can be briefly unavailable. Pull to refresh or try again shortly. Where possible the last known values are shown rather than nothing.
Can I trust the sea conditions for safety?
Treat them as guidance only. Forecasts can be wrong or delayed, and conditions change faster than any forecast. Always follow official marine warnings from the Department of Meteorology, the Department of Fisheries, the Navy or the Coast Guard before deciding to sail.
A page looks wrong or will not load.
Refresh the page, or clear your browser cache if it persists. A stable internet connection is required.
Something else is wrong.
Contact support at support@fishnet.lk and include your mobile number and what you were doing at the time.
